A Cloudless Day

Somehow I convinced my husband to take a ride with me early this morning down to Sandy Hook. It was such a beautiful morning and the temperature was in the 60's. We drove out to Gunnison Beach which most New Jersey folk know to be the 'Nudy Beach'. For some reason I thought that a rather windy day in the 60's was too cold for nude sun bathers...I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, by no means was the beach packed, but there were a few 'mature' people soaking in the sun where it normally doesn't shine. So, like good neighbors, we stayed WAY on the other side of the beach and carefully averted my camera, and our eyes.
This picture is about nothing more than me being extremely childish about the whole situation. It really was such a gorgeous cloudless day. Seriously, not one cloud in the sky. I saw this couple strolling down the beach in the distance (fully clothed of course) and decided to grab a shot. I love how clear the day is, but the lack of clouds just makes it seem so flat to me.
So I'm posting the original shot, and then the same shot again but I added some happy little clouds.
I know, I know, it's cheating, but I feel like the clouds add more drama and dimension to the photo. What do you think? Feel free to weigh in on which one you prefer. All in all it was a nice day.
I got to walk on the beach, giggle at naked old people,
and snap a few shots. Life is good..........

Remains of the day...

Today I had to go into NYC to see a Neuro-Ocologist about getting the remaining parts of my tumor zapped.
I only had my phone handy, so thanks to some funky Instagram filters, I got some cool shots. I love going into the city, just not to see doctors. Boo.....

A Little Rain Never Hurt Anyone

It's raining cats and dogs here in Jersey, and a morning full of grocery shopping meant no real time for pictures. I promised myself that I would seriously try to find opportunities to get a good shot here and there, as often as possible. Like I said, lots of rain happening today...Yes,as a matter of fact, that was me on the roof in the rain wearing Penguin pants taking a picture of a rubber ducky in the rain. You're welcome.

Just Like Riding a Bike

This turned out to be a pretty great weekend for me.I spent time with my family OUTSIDE of the house, and today I had the opportunity to photograph a little peanut! This little beauty is just about 3 weeks old.
I tell you as cute as she is in pictures, they do her no justice. It felt so good to be taking pictures again. The sound of the shutter, the clicking noise that the dials make when I'm adjusting the shutter speed and aperture are comforting familiar sounds that I sorely missed.
Sure cell phone pictures are fun and convenient, but that's just not for me. I hope you enjoy this little taste of my photo shoot. :)

Vitamin D

Today we took the kids to see the Matinee showing of The Hunger Games.Great movie, but afterwords I felt like it was just too beautiful a day to be inside. We went home, ate some lunch and then headed off to the park. Since I'm still not allowed to over exert myself,I parked my butt under the biggest tree I could find and watched the kids and my husband act like fools on the playground. My kids are well past jungle gym age, but that doesn't stop them,my husband either. lol
It felt good to finally be outside soaking up some sun. I examined the tree i was sitting under and it reminded me of a fantastic, and I really mean fantastic picture that a friend of mine took of a tree in her front yard. I tried to recreate it with my park tree, but no dice. I'm happy with this picture for sure for other reasons, but I don't think this comes close to the picture she took. Well, I thank her for her inspiration.

Getting Back To Normal

It's crazy to think that only a few weeks ago I was literally going blind because a pituitary tumor in my brain was pushing on my Optic nerves. 3 weeks post-op and I've been starting to take a picture here and there with my phone. I haven't even picked up my camera yet, but I'm so excited to. I'm thinking maybe this weekend I'll finally just bite the bullet. In the mean time, I have my phone...
